I've watched all 220 episodes of Naruto. (This soaring sense of accomplishment is unduly magnified by how sucky other areas of one's exsistence have been lately, so roll with me or ignore this.) What's more, I wrote a recap on all of them, which are up at RPG.net and will be thrown up once-a-day on the Recap Avalanche.

You know what? All things considered, it's not a bad little show. Hinata Hyuga is love.

What holiday food do you hate to see on the table?

View 500 Answers

Raisin and carrot salad. GEH. I don't like it at the best of the times, but if it slithers its way to the Thanksgiving table, you can count me out. Also, orange generally clashes with the rest of the spread, so it's a taste issue of two kinds.

On RPG.net I posted a recap thread on Naruto, wherein I was going to watch every episode I could get my hands on legally and post my thoughts and suchlike about it. I just finished episode 40, and people've looked at it more than three thousand times. That's more than three hundred tens! I find this amazing.

It's here. I like the show.
ramble.

Once upon a time, I and another fellow did a netbook on the southeast for a game called Nightbane that you probably haven't heard of. It was entitled Shadows of the South, and focused on Atlanta and New Orleans, or the only southern cities I thought were interesting enough to talk about. It was not very well done, in your traditional Earth sense, though many people enjoyed it at the time and that's as gratifying as it always is. I like to think it possessed a ragged charm and enthusiasm, and hopefully covered up the fact I was cribbing like mad from the newly-discovered (then) books of White Wolf and the first Gabriel Knight computer game.

I also know for a fact I was in love with putting musical quotes at the beginning of each chapter.

The dude who I did it with was a great guy, and as with the hallmark of all good partnerships, we each thought the other did the best stuff. I made a character who was a cross between Robert E. Lee and Satan, he did a vigilante group based off the Blues Brothers. He wins. I stumbled across something he's done recently, and I'm glad he's doing well. Chad was and I suspect still is, a Good Guy.

This rant was done because I did a search on the netbook itself, and people still remembered. Man.

Now I recap Naruto episodes on RPG.net. It's strangely fufilling.

Captain America #43, out last week, finally shattered my carefully nutured, nigh-on three decades' worth of my suspension of disbelief. Just broke mine over its knee, like I was a caped crusader and it was a Santa Priscan ex-con. (Those of you who got that... ha, ha! Nerd.)

Anyway, it finds new Captain America Bucky doing something I believe we all would find implausible. Just ridiculous.

He leaves behind the Black Widow, clad only in a bedsheet and a smirk, to fight a French-speaking master of savate.*

Congratulations, Mr. Brubaker. I can never read another comic again. Save maybe Usagi Yojimbo, because that be da bomb. Er. Yo.

*Savate is the French art of foot-boxing!
If you see this, post a quote from Star Trek in your journal.

"All I ask for is a tall ship, and some contraband to fill it with".
-Quark, Little Green Men

Yes! I rule!

Your result for The Classic Leading Man Test...

Humphrey Bogart

You're the original man of honor, rough and tough but willing to stick your neck out when you need to, despite what you might say to the contrary. You're a complex character full of spit and vinegar, but with a soft heart and a tender streak that you try to hide. There's usually a complicated dame in the picture, someone who sees the real you behind all the tough talk and can dish it out as well as you can. You're not easy to get next to, but when you find the right partner, you're caring and loyal to a fault. A big fault. But you take it on the chin and move on, nursing your pain inside and maintaining your armor...until the next dame walks in. Or possibly the same dame, and of all the gin joints in all the world, it had to be yours. Co-stars include Ingrid Bergman and Lauren Bacall, hot chicks with problems.

Find out what kind of classic dame you'd make by taking the
Classic Dames Test.

Take The Classic Leading Man Test at HelloQuizzy

Take a picture of yourself right now. Don't change your clothes, don't fix your hair...just take a picture. Post that picture with NO editing. Post these instructions with your picture.

I apologize.

Your result for The Director Who Films Your Life Test...

Kevin Smith

Kevin will take your slacker life and turn it into the cult classic it deserves to be --- like Mallrats (just kidding). If you can handle the menacing presence of Jay and Silent Bob all throughout your film, then Kevin is willing to oblige. Basically, he can take the lives of people who don't have much of a life and make it entertaining, so you're in good hands. Go watch your copy of Clerks, now.

Take The Director Who Films Your Life Test at HelloQuizzy

advice column.

Would you like a Matt Pro Tip? Of course you would!

Generally, when you desire to speak sotto voice, you are trying to speak just audibly to hear yourself. I think. The purpose is defeated if you just turn your head like you're suddenly distracted or possibly embarrassed and talk only a little bit softer but still clearly audible enough to be heard by all around you.

And this man is a teacher.

Much about the lack of quality in our public schooling becomes readily apparent.

He wanted to know if a graphic novel we had in stock. I said so no, it's out of print. So he turns and mumbles that, "Well, it is a used comic store so that doesn't mean anything." And he was correct. But since I didn't immediately follow up with, "But we have a used copy in the bins" it means everything you fish-faced enemy of the people! I almost beat him to death with the ridiculous sunglasses he was wearing at 6:50 in the evening.

As a sidenote, pick which professional wrestling move Matt will use when he finally snaps on a hapless customer. Implant DDT? Rock Bottom? Jawbreaker lariat? You make the call! The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

This post hereby replaces a Maudlin Matt Money Muttering post. Congratulations!

So MySpace amuses one still. I got one of the famous spam messages, and it went on and on about how cute my user ID picture is. Why is this funny, you query? Well, for one, I don't have any sort of digital camera I had to use another picture and two...

...my picture is of Mechagodzilla.

Maybe I do need to meet this girl.
